VN900 Service Manual
INSTRUCTIONS:
1. Remove rear break reservoir on right side of bike.
2. Remove right floorboard mount from the frame with 14mm wrench or socket. DO NOT HANG the board
from the brake switch wire. Use a small box or cover the board with a rag and tape it off the ground so it won't
hang.
3. With your 14mm wrench or socket, remove 2 front engine mount bolts (M10) from the right side of the frame
by the down tube.
4. Remove the left front engine mount bolts from the frame.
5. For this step, it may be easier to remove the front fender to prevent any scratches. You may also want to use
blue masking tape to tape up the Engine Guard so it does not get scratched. Carefully slip the Engine Guard
behind the front wheel and slide into place on the frame.
6. It may be a good idea to use blue Loctite here, but it is not required. Install new upper engine mount bolts
(included chrome cap heads) on each side using the included washers. The spacers should be between the frame
and the Engine Guard. Keep these bolts hand-tight until the lower bolts are in place.
7. Install the new lower engine mount bolts, (included) with Loctite is desired, washers & spacers at this time.
8. Tighten the Engine Guard to 32 ft/lb. (factory spec).
9. Re-install the right floorboard and tighten to 25 ft/lb (factory spec).
10. Bolt up the rear master cylinder reservoir.
11. Check break pedal for proper operation and clearance.
